According to Bloomberg Billionaires Index, billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s estimated net worth is $113 billion. He is currently the richest person in Asia and the 11th richest person in the world.

The 66-year-old tycoon runs the Reliance conglomerate founded by his father, Dhirubhai Ambani, with businesses ranging from oil refining to retail, telecommunications, food and digital streaming services.

Mukesh studied at St. Xavier then enrolled in an MBA at Stanford University, but he dropped out to help his father build the company.

Mukesh started working at Reliance Industries in the 1980s. Initially, he only managed the construction of the company’s fiber factory. With his talent, his father assigned him the responsibility of building a petrochemical plant as well as managing other factories of Reliance Industries.

In 2002, after his father passed away, Mukesh Ambani had a tense dispute within the company with his younger brother Anil Ambani. This led to the Reliance empire being split in half in 2005.

Mukesh will own the refining and petrochemical businesses while Anil will hold the finance, power generation and telecommunications operations.

Since taking over, Mukesh Ambani has turned Reliance Industries into an international corporation, one of the world’s leading petrochemical companies. He built India’s largest oil refinery in the city of Jamnagar and turned it into one of the world’s oil refining centers.

Mukesh also founded the retail system Reliance Retail in 2006 and the telecommunications group Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited in 2016. Currently, these are both India’s largest companies in the retail and telecommunications sectors.

Mukesh Ambani owns a huge fortune, helping him become the richest person in Asia as well as among the richest people in the world for many years.

This billionaire is also trying to turn Reliance Industries into a green energy corporation. The group plans to invest $80 billion over the next 10-15 years in renewable energy and build a new complex next to its refinery.

This billionaire has also outlined an empire succession plan for his children. Son Akash is currently the chairman of Reliance Jio, daughter Isha oversees financial services and retail and youngest son Anant is in the new energy business.
