Ryan Gosling revealed that he received helpful ‘tips’ from his longtime partner, Eva Mendes, as well as their two daughters ahead of his Oscars performance for I’m Just Ken on Sunday.
The Barbie actor, 43 – who was announced as an upcoming host for Saturday Night Live next month in April – discussed taking to the stage while talking to People at the SXSW film festival in Austin, Texas on Tuesday.
He was in attendance at the festivities to celebrate the premiere of his latest project, The Fall Guy – which will officially hit theaters later this year on May 3.
‘It was great,’ Gosling told the outlet as he gushed about Mendes, 50, and their daughters Esmeralda, nine, and Amada, seven.
‘It was so fun because they came to the dress rehearsal the day before and so they were in the front row,’ Ryan continued while adding, ‘They gave me some tips and some notes, all great notes.’

‘They are such a huge part of this for me…it was my girl’s interest in Barbie and disinterest in Ken that got me into this in the first place. It was beautiful to have them there at the end.’
During the memorable performance, the actor dressed for the occasion in a hot pink suit that contained rhinestone details that sparkled under the bright stage lights.
The actor additionally wore a pink shirt underneath while slipping into a pair of sleek, black dress shoes. For a finishing touch, he also sported a pair of stylish, black shades.
He brought the audience to its feet as he belted out lyrics, and also jumped into the crowd, allowing his co-star Margot Robbie as well as other celebrities to help join in and sing the song.
Eva notably was a big supporter of Gosling and shared a short clip of herself standing outside of his dressing room at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood where the ceremony was held. In the caption, she sweetly penned, ‘Always by my man.’
In a separate post, she struck a pose while wearing a the bedazzled, pink blazer that Gosling had also worn.
The Ghost Rider actress jokingly typed, ‘You took Ken all the way to the Oscars, RG. Now come home, we need to put the kids to bed.’
Mendes recently opened up about the reason that both she and Ryan don’t pose together on the red carpet.

The actress uploaded a clip of both she and Gosling starring together in the 2011 film, Place Beyond The Pines.
‘Magic is Real. We did not meet on set. The magic started way before but here’s a little magic captured on camera…,’ she penned.
One fan commented in response, ‘Eva, I want to be honest w u, but I hope Barbie will get through the Awards Season just to see you w Ryan. I know I’m selfish and probably a dreamer, but I will never stop to dream about it!!’
The mother-of-two replied, ‘You’re the best! What a cool comment; thank you. But we don’t do those things together…Like these photos I’ve been posting, I’m only comfortable posting because it’s already out there.’
However, she quickly added, ‘Oh wait – for those who may catch me in a “lie” – we only were on the red carpet together once when promoting this film.’
At the 96th Academy Awards over the weekend on Sunday, I’m Just Ken was also nominated for Best Original Song – which eventually went to Billie Eilish for What Was I Made For?
While talking to USA Today in regards to the performance while at the SXSW festival in Austin, Gosling explained, ‘I just wanted it to be as fun as possible.’
‘That’s what we tried to do, and if it took 62 Kens and 40 big Barbie heads and Slash to do it, then that’s what we had to do.’

During SXSW, Ryan also revealed that he was ‘dropped’ down multiple stories off of a building despite his ‘fear of heights’ in the upcoming action-comedy titled, The Fall Guy, while talking to People.
‘They dropped me stories off of a building, and I have a fear of heights,’ the star – who plays a retired stuntman – expressed to the outlet.
Gosling then explained that he wanted to do ‘a few’ because it was ‘important’ to him, although he admitted he, ‘would have been happy to say I did none of my own stunts in this movie.’
Ryan added, ‘It helped me to understand exactly on some small level what [stunt workers] do every day.’
The premise follows his character of Colt Seavers, ‘a stuntman who left the business a year earlier to focus on both his physical and mental health.’
‘He’s drafted back into service when the star of a mega-budget studio movie, which is being directed by his ex, goes missing,’ per an official IMDB synopsis.

Ryan then gave a special shout out to his own stunt performer, Logan Holladay, who was seated in the audience.
‘There is a moment in the film where he buckles me in for a stunt that he is about to do,’ Gosling recalled. ‘Then I get out of the car and he pats me on the back for a stunt that he just did. How f****d up is that?’
‘What I love about this movie is in any other film you would never know that but in this one you do.’
‘It’s an opportunity to finally acknowledge the stunt performers and the incredible contribution that they already make to movies,’ the star continued.
David Leitch – who directed the film – added, ‘It was a love letter to stunts. We knew we had to be authentic in that world.’
