Since beating Lewis Hamilton for the championship in 2021, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has been dominating the sport winning F1 GPs left and right. The superior machinery Adrain Newey and Christian Horner has given him played a significant role in it. His dominance is expected to continue in 2024 with the RB20, following his flying start to the year.
Now, Red Bull’s reserve driver Liam Lawson has detailed how Max Verstappen is able to beat his rivals and even his teammate Sergio Perez with huge gaps on weekends. He pointed out that Verstappen is confrontable with the Red Bull challenger that has maximized the 2022 regulations. The Kiwi added that Verstappen’s confidence in the car also helps him to produce such performances.
With where Max is at right now with Red Bull, the car is in such a good window and he’s so comfortable with it, At turn four, I am pretty sure he touched on the inside, which is extremely difficult to do, to be that precise. But it is not just turn four, it’s turn 10, turn 22 as well – everywhere basically, he is so precise with it and it’s because he’s so confident with the car and it’s those things that really make up lap time as well.
Liam Lawson told Sky Sports.
The Dutchman has bagged two consecutive wins so far, the first in the season’s opener Bahrain GP and the second race at the Saudi Arabian GP. The true depth of Verstappen’s dominance can be seen at Bahrain, as the other Red Bull driver Sergio Perez who claimed second place was a whopping 20 seconds behind the Dutchman.

Toto Wolff said.
Whether or not Max Verstappen becomes a part of Mercedes, is a tale only the future will tell.
