In an exciting new development for The Boys spinoff program, director Tom Schnauz has disclosed the timeframe for when production for Gen V season 2 will begin.

Season 2 of Gen V has revealed when filming will begin. A spinoff of the popular sitcom The Boys on Prime Video is called Gen V. There has only been one season of Gen V thus far, which ran from September to November 2023. Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizzie Broadway, Maddie Phillips, and London Thor comprise a strong ensemble cast.

Writer Tom Schnauz appears to have disclosed the start window for Gen V season 2 filming in an interview with Arc Studio. Schnauz clarified that while he is assisting “with season two with breaking story,” he did not work on Gen V season 1. “They’re gonna start production in probably 2-3 weeks,” continues Schnauz. I’m working on a show called Gen V which is aired on Amazon. I did not work on season one. I’m currently helping them with season two with breaking story, and they start shooting not too long up in Canada. They’re gonna start production in probably 2 or 3 weeks.

What Does This News Mean for the Gen V Season 2 Release Date

Season 2 of Gen V was renewed on October 19, 2023. This date was significant since, at the time of its renewal, the program had only shown five of its eventual eight episodes from season 1, meaning it had not even ended the season. The enormous popularity of Gen V, which saw season 1 soar to become Prime Video’s top show, led to the renewal of season 2.

At the time of its renewal, Gen V season 2 was not given a release date, but it was expected to be sometime in 2025. With the start of filming happening so soon, Gen V season 2 could be coming faster than initially predicted. It will still be unlikely for Gen V to arrive even at the end of this year, but perchance the sophomore season could arrive at the very top of 2025.

Another factor impacting the release of Gen V season 2 is the release of The Boys season 4. The Boys season 4 is set to premiere on June 13 and run until July 18. The Boys season 3 ended in 2022, so after two years away, it is likely that Prime Video will not feel the need to push Gen V season 2 towards a 2024 release date. Hopefully, more information about Gen V season 2’s release window will arrive as the show begins its production.
