The working title for ‘Gen V’ Season 2 has been exclusively revealed by CoveredGeekly.
Gen V is preparing for the release of its sophomore season, hoping to build on the triumph of its debut run.
Godolkin University, a prominent college exclusive to superheroes where students study to become the next generation of heroes, was added to the The Boys world in the first season.
Season 2 of the show is set to commence its filming process, bringing back the thrilling saga of the young superheroes at Godolkin University.
CoveredGeekly reports that Gen V Season 2 will film in Toronto, Ontario, commencing in mid to late April. The Boys also primarily filmed in Toronto, and so did the first season of Gen V, which was filmed under the working title “Varsity”.
“Nero”: What it could mean for Gen V
The working title for the second season of Gen V is “Nero”.
The word is of Italian origin, which means “Black”.
Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus was a Roman Emperor who reigned for 14 years, only to die because of a revolt stirred by one of his own governors.
Nero had to flee Rome in response to the revolt, which seems oddly similar to Black Noir going AWOL after Soldier Boy’s return in The Boys Season 3.
After his death, several impostors of his likeness appeared all over his empire. Sound familiar? The fourth season of The Boys will feature the return of Black Noir to replace Earving, who died at the hands of Homelander.
Curiously, Black Noir was later revealed in the comics to be an upgraded Homelander clone designed to take out the genuine Homelander should he ever go rogue, which is precisely what he appears to be doing in the live-action series.
Though it’s unknown, “Nero” could allude to this plot, which, if it were to be adapted, would not even be realized until The Boys Season 5 because it would most likely be built up in Seasons 4 and Gen V Season 2.
Here at CoveredGeekly, we have speculated in the past that Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy, another superpowered character from The Boys world, would wind up wearing the Black Noir outfit rather than a Homelander clone.
What is happening to Soldier Boy, who was taken prisoner by Grace Mallory in Season 3 and who makes it her life’s work to halt Homelander and the corruption behind Vought, is one question that remains unsolved at this time.
Filming for Gen V Season 2 is expected to begin in the next two to three weeks, according to the most recent report.
Speaking with Arc Studio, Breaking Bad Screenwriter/Producer Thomas Schnauz revealed that he had joined the team at Gen V, and offered a production update:
“I’m working on a show called Gen V which is aired on Amazon. I did not work on season one. I’m currently helping them with season two with breaking story, and they start shooting not too long up in Canada.“
“They’re gonna start production in probably 2 or 3 weeks.“
The fourth season of The Boys, which will debut on June 13, is based on events from the first season of the program.
Because of their shared reality, Season 2 of Gen V may have an impact on Season 5 of The Boys, resulting in a dynamic between the two shows.
Although formal information on the Season 2 cast has not yet been made public, fans may anticipate seeing the majority of the Season 1 cast return.
Asa German as Sam Riordan, Derek Luh, Maddie Phillips as Cate Dunlap, Jaz Sinclair as Marie Moreau, Chance Perdomo as Andre Anderson, Lizzie Broadway as Emma Meyer, and London Thor as Jordan Li are among the cast members.
