It can be challenging to recreate the heyday of the past as things change and the fan base becomes older.
As rumors of a Spice Girls reunion grow, a new dose of girl power may be in order.
Reuniting the band isn’t always the greatest course of action, though, since past grudges and jealousies have a tendency of coming to light. Here, we revisit those musical comebacks that left fans in tears.
Critics claim that the Fab Five will soon make an announcement, bringing some excitement back into our lives.
The Happy Mondays- 1999
Dubbed the sound of the Hacienda, the mancunian music factory that sparked a movement, the band reformed to relive their 80s heyday.
But the gigs were a drunken disaster, Shaun Ryder had to read his lyrics off a teleprompter and was said to have been squaring up to band members in between songs.
Their comeback single was blasted by the press as a ‘half arsed dogs breakfast.’
The Happy Mondays reunion was dubbed a car crash and a cynical money making exercise.
Kiss- 1996
The band never quite regained their 80s star power after longtime drummer Eric Carr passed away in 1991 following a diagnosis of heart cancer.
Fans criticized band leader Gene Simmons for being callous and questioned how they could carry on after they replaced Alice Cooper sticksman Eric Singer.
As a result of underlying difficulties during their final Psycho Circus tour in 2000, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley were eventually removed from the lineup.
Their 90s reunion was mixed, but they recently sold their back catalogue of songs to a Swedish investor for a cool 300 million dollars.
Outcast 2014
The hip hop band got together for a reunion tour, but their appearances were branded ‘underwhelming.’
At their first show at the Coachella festival, they barely glanced at one another, as well as occasionally turning their backs away from the audience.
It became clear the Andre 3000 and Big Boi are not keen to perform together.
When they reunited in 2014, band members Andre 3000 and Big Boi did little to hide their beef and the tour was not loved by the critics.
Five Star 2018
They were Britain’s answer to the Jackson 5 with siblings Denise, Doris, Stedman, Delroy and Lorraine who topped the 80s charts and won a BRIT award for best group.
But the pressures of fame can tear apart even the closest siblings in 2018, band member Denise launched a new band using the Five Star name, minus her family.
Later, Lorraine who was diagnosed with breast cancer, admitted that she was no longer on speaking terms with her sister Denise.
That same year Denise launched a new band using the Five Star name but with different band members.
The Jackson Five of Britain was an attractive sibling ensemble, but the relationship between sisters Lorraine and Denise soured.
