The Hollywood strikes in 2023 caused a delay in production for the MGM Television series. In November 2023, it was confirmed that shooting for Season 2 would commence in LATE APRIL 2024 in Ireland, a change from Season 1, which was filmed in Romania. No premiere date on Netflix has been announced yet.
Season 2’s plot remains largely under wraps, but creators Al Gough and Miles Millar hinted at the introduction of more Addams family members. During a Tudum appearance, the cast confirmed this without disclosing details. Plans for an expanded universe are also underway, including a spinoff series centered around Uncle Fester, played by Fred Armisen in a guest appearance in Season 1.
Gough, Millar, and Ortega, now an executive producer, suggested that Season 2 may delve deeper into Wednesday’s relationship with her mother, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones in Season 1. Additionally, there’s a promise of a stronger emphasis on horror over teen romance compared to Season 1.
While scripts are in progress, the studio has secured options on the main Season 1 actors, led by Ortega and including Gwendoline Christie, Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, and others. Despite the dire straits some characters faced in Season 1, the series’ fantasy elements leave room for surprises in future episodes.
Although an official date is yet to be announced, Wednesday season two is scheduled to return to NETFLIX in 2025.
