When the seven-time Formula 1 world champion took her for a lightning-fast lap around the Miami International Autodrome, Kendall Jenner urged Lewis Hamilton to slow down.
The supermodel hopped into the passenger seat of the $136,000 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT with Hamilton on Saturday as she was in town to support Formula One’s all-female feeder series, F1 Academy.
“Oh my god,” she exclaimed, “and holy shit, I’m going to cry.”
Before Sunday’s Miami Grand Prix, she once jokingly said to the Mercedes driver, “I literally hate you.” He was speeding around a bend.
In the midst of their steamy lap, Jenner inadvertently unintentionally revealed Hamilton’s intentions to attend the 2024 Met Gala.
“We have the Met Gala on Monday,” she said as he performed a burnout on the circuit and whirled the car around.
The reality personality exclaimed, “I feel so much better now that it’s over,” as the vehicle drew to a stop.
She admitted to her friends, “I screamed the entire time.” “It was both amazing and terrifying at the same moment.”
Being ambassadors for Tommy Hilfiger, the two left quickly to return to New York in time for Monday’s Met Gala.
Hamilton donned a special Burberry outfit honoring John Ystumllyn, one of the first Black gardeners in the UK, while Jenner dazzled in a 1999 Alexander McQueen archive gown that had never been worn before.
It came after he finished sixth in the Miami Grand Prix, the race that saw the first-ever Formula One triumph for fellow Briton Lando Norris.
Along with the young ladies competing in the junior racing series, Jenner was also spotted conversing with Susie Wolff, the director of the F1 Academy.
Since 2015, when Jenner and Hamilton were rumored to be dating, the athlete has maintained their friendship.
“I’ve been friends with Kendall for a long time, so we’re just friends,” Hamilton said in September 2015 to E! News.
“She is performing incredibly well, she is very level-headed and focused, and she just seems like a very grown-up young woman,” he continued.
