Following her role in “The Mandalorian,” Lizzo is thinking back on her father and their mutual love of “Star Wars.”
The “Truth Hurts” singer was ecstatic at the chance to make an appearance with Jack Black in the sixth episode of Season 3 of the Disney+ series, which aired on Wednesday.
Lizzo posted on Instagram on Thursday, saying, “My dad introduced me to ‘Star Wars’ when I was a young girl like a rite of passage. He said the trilogies are his favorite movies and quickly became mine.”
When executive producer and creator Jon Favreau contacted to offer her the role of The Duchess on “Mandalorian,” she claimed she was moved.
“I cried all day wishing my dad was still with us,” she wrote in a note. “Heβd be so proud.”
Lizzo added she will be forever grateful for the chance to be immortalized as a part of the “Star Wars” universe.
“Star Wars was a dream I never thought was possibleβ but thanks to Jon, Bryce, and everyone in the galaxy I am now part of the ever-expanding saga of the stars,” she said.
In 2021, she dressed as fan favorite Baby Yoda for Halloween.
“CEO OF π₯Ί FOR HALLOWEEN,” she wrote.
For decades sci-fi franchise “Star Wars” has been one of the most reliable box office powerhouses, and the galaxy far, far away’s series “The Mandalorian” is on its third season currently.
Since 2019, “The Mandalorian” has expanded audience’s knowledge of the “Star Wars” universe with another story, introducing new characters and bringing back familiar faces from the franchise.
The Disney+ series stars Pedro Pascal as the titular character, a bounty hunter who travels through the outer reaches of the galaxy. Initially tasked to retrieve The Child for Imperial forces, the Mandalorian decides to protect the creature and goes on a quest for redemption.
Grogu, colloquially called Baby Yoda, became a fan favorite after the release of “The Mandalorian.”
