Following the inspiration of Russell Wilson’s kindness, the Steelers QB expresses a heartfelt message to his mother on Mother’s Day: “Thank you for loving me.”

Russell Wilson has always been known as a compassionate, loving, and family-centric man. A lot of credit for those qualities goes to his mother Tammy Wilson, who raised the QB on these set standards. This compassion that he learned from his mother and father also drove him to help people through his Why Not You Foundation and the Why Not You Academy.

Hence, on Mother’s Day, the QB came forth to give due credit to his mom by celebrating her and sharing special memories with his parents. The Steelers QB took to Instagram to give tribute to the woman who has instilled strong values in him, drawing reminders of the contributions she has made to his mindset and life.

Russell Wilson wishes his mother on special day!

Wilson took to Instagram and shared special moments with his mother. He captioned the Instagram post as, “I love you so much, Mom. Thanks for loving me. Raising me. Caring for me. Praying for me. Happy Mother’s Day!” It is a set of two photos from different points in Russell’s life.

The first photo shows Russell Wilson sitting with his mother as they both appear to be smiling toward another camera in the room. Tammy can be seen holding a bouquet in her hands, wearing a simple black dress, and matching it up with some silver jewelry along with a cross around her neck.

But the next photo in the slide is a throwback image, bringing back fond memories for the QB. The photo dates back to November 14, 2009, years before Wilson started his professional football career in the National Football League. The QB was playing for the NC State Wolfpack football team at that moment, which he had joined two years earlier in 2007.

In this second slide, his late father, Harrison Benjamin Wilson III, and his mother, Tammy Wilson, can both be seen beside him. Both his parents can be seen sporting the college merchandise of NC State, wearing the same to undoubtedly extend their support to their son. All three of them could be seen looking at the camera, while Tammy and Russell could be witnessed sporting big smiles while posing.

It is this relentless support and efforts of his parents that has allowed the QB to try and give them back in life in any sort of way. Carrying their values and teachings forward, Wilson started his journey of doing his part in contributing to the goodness in the world through his organization.

The Steelers QB gives back to the world!

The Super Bowl-winning QB had a lot of inspiration from his parents it comes to making a difference and giving back to the people who always supported him as a football fan. Growing up, his late father would always ask him, “Son, why not you? Why don’t you play pro baseball? Why don’t you play pro football?”

This question from his father not only pushed him to take up professional football but also made him invest his time in the Why Not You Academy and Why Not You Foundation. Former Seattle Seahawks’ star described that his parents “instilled in their children a drive not just to do great things in life, but to make a difference in the community at the same time.”

Wilson told People Magazine, “My dad always told me, it’s the hashmark in between of significance that you can leave on a place. You always want to leave a place better, you always want to go to a place and make it better.” And about his mother, he added, “You want to always encourage people and make people believe. That’s why I went to the hospital. My mom was an ER nurse and did so many different things.”

The values that Russell Wilson speaks of have allowed him to contribute generously to his community’s growth, following on the path of supporting healthcare, education and other opportunities for all through his foundation.
