A New $53 Million Hit Increases The Prospects of An Upcoming Jennifer Lawrence Film

A new Jennifer Lawrence movie is in the works, and this recent $53 million hit makes the upcoming film even more promising. Jennifer Lawrence is one of the biggest actors working today, with her hand in things like The Hunger Games franchise showing just how much starpower she holds. However, one recent film proves that the actress’ next project could be another massive success, with the Jennifer Lawrence movie coming off the back of another box office hit.

Jennifer Lawrence made a name for herself in the early 2010s, with her starring in critically acclaimed films like Silver Linings Playbook while also becoming a major staple of franchises like X-Men and The Hunger Games. Although most of her biggest franchises have ended, Lawrence has proven that she can carry films on her own, with movies like Causeway and Jennifer Lawrence’s hit comedy No Hard Feelings highlighting this fact. Thus, the next Lawrence movie could be an even bigger hit due to the previous work of a familiar director.

Although acclaimed film director Luca Guadagnino has several projects in the works, one of these films is titled Burial Rites, with it set to star Jennifer Lawrence. The film follows a woman accused of murder in a small Icelandic village, with it being based on the book of the same name. Announced in 2017, Jennifer Lawrence has been attached to the project for several years, with it being an exciting upcoming project from the actress.

Luca Guadagnino’s most recent film was 2024’s Challengers, with the Zendaya movie proving that Burial Rites can be a big success. As of the writing of this article, Challengers has made $53 million, which is really good for an original property of this scale. Guadagnino has proven that he can make box office hits, and hopefully Jennifer Lawrence’s Burial Rites will be another one.

Challengers had one major thing going for it, something that Jennifer Lawrence’s involvement in Burial Rites can repeat. Zendaya was one of the biggest factors in the success of Challengers, with her starpower bringing in many audience members. This undeniably had a big hand in the film’s $53 million success, something that Guadagnino’s next film will need.

Luckily, Jennifer Lawrence has proven that she has this same kind of pull, something that will help Burial Rights. Jennifer Lawrence’s No Hard Feelings‘ critical and commercial success came almost entirely from her starpower, something that Jennifer Lawrence can repeat again in Luca Guadagnino’s Burial Rites.
