Triumphant! It was announced by TMZ on Thursday that Beyoncé won a legal case after being sued by indie filmmaker Matthew Fulks who claimed her visual album Lemonade ripped off his 2014 short film
Federal Judge Jed Rakoff said he would explain his reasoning later and Beyoncé denied the claims in her official response to Fulks’ filing.
Despite apparent visual similarities between Lemonade and Palinoia, Beyoncé insisted the films had very different storylines.
The star pointed out in legal documents that while Fulks’ film is about a depressed newly single white man, her HBO special was about ‘an African-American woman who progresses through stages of suspicion, denial, anger and, ultimately, reconciliation in her relationship.
