Dana White has denied rumours that Ronda Rousey is set for a return to the UFC, more than six years since her last fight.
Rousey was a pioneer in women’s MMA, with White awarding her the promotion’s inaugural women’s bantamweight title after previously insisting that women would never fight in the UFC.
After debuting at UFC 157 in 2013, the judo Olympian would go on to become one of the sport’s biggest-ever stars, headlining a total of six pay-per-views during her time in the promotion with the final two each exceeding the vanuted one million buy landmark.
Sporting a perfect record heading into her final two fights, Rousey would suffer a pair of devastating defeats via knockout against Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes before hanging up her gloves in 2016 to sign with the WWE and embark on a career in professional wrestling.
However, after indicating her time with the WWE was over following her defeat to Shayna Baszler earlier this month, speculation began to rise that Rousey may return to MMA and challenge for the vacant title at 135lbs.
Dana White has rebuked rumours that Ronda Rousey could be set for a return to MMA
Speculation mounted after Rousey called time on her career with the WWE earlier this month
But former UFC champion is instead said to be intent on focusing on raising her young family
But according to White, a return to the Octagon is not on the cards: ‘There’s no shot,’ the UFC president told Sports Illustrated.
‘She’s accomplished everything she set out to do.’
Speculation had increased in recent weeks that Rousey may be lured out of retirement for one final fight at the UFC 300 event scheduled to take place at an as yet undetermined location next year.
White added that the 36-year-old is financially comfortable and has nothing left to prove in combat sports as she focuses on her family.
‘Her dream was to win a UFC championship, then win a WWE championship, and she’s done it.
‘Now she’s starting a family. Ronda has made so much money, and she’s still making a lot of money in sponsorships.’
Rousey is married to fellow former UFC fighter Travis Browne. The pair welcomed their first child, La’akea Makalapuaokalanipo Browne in October of 2021.
