Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was the 12th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. Beckham had a solid college career, totaling 143 receptions for 2,340 yards and 12 touchdowns in three years at LSU.
The former Tiger had an outstanding rookie season, totaling 91 receptions on 130 targets for 1,305 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. He led the NFL in receiving yards per game (108.8) and won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Beckham put up similar numbers in 2015 and 2016, making the Pro Bowl both years.
Unfortunately, the superstar suffered a fractured left ankle and only played in four contests in 2017. Beckham has since struggled with injuries, tearing an ACL in 2020 with the Cleveland Browns and again in 2021 with the Los Angeles Rams during the Super Bowl.
What Did Odell Beckham Jr. Accomplish In Week 9?
The veteran wide receiver sat out the 2022 season, recovering from a torn ACL. Unfortunately, Beckham hasn’t looked like the superstar he once was this season.
However, the former LSU star had his best game of the year in Week 9, totaling five receptions on seven targets for 56 receiving yards and a touchdown, scoring 12.1 half-point PPR fantasy points in the win. The touchdown was Beckham’s first of the year, coming on his 31st birthday.
Should I Pick Up Odell Beckham Jr.?
Fantasy players are hopeful Sunday’s performance is a sign of things to come for the veteran wide receiver. Offensive coordinator Todd Monken said the connection between Beckham and Lamar Jackson was still a work in progress before last week’s game.
However, fantasy players shouldn’t get their hopes up. The former LSU star is the WR81 for the year, averaging only five fantasy points per game. Furthermore, 34.3% of his fantasy points for the season came last week.
More importantly, Beckham had the six-yard receiving touchdown late in a blowout win for Baltimore. The game was so out of hand that the Ravens had Tyler Huntley in the game at quarterback. Meanwhile, the veteran wide receiver has scored fewer than 7.5 fantasy points in every game this year until last week. Furthermore, he had fewer than 4.8 fantasy points in all but one contest before the matchup with the Seattle Seahawks.
