An exceptional young Lady from Zimbabwe, Musawenkosi Donia Saurombe has set the record as being the youngest woman in Africa to earn a Doctorate (PhD) degree at 23 years old.
Musawenkosi Saurombe started her university education at the age of 16, earning a Bachelor’s degree at the age of 19. She thereafter enrolled for her honours and Master’s degrees at 20 and 21 respectively.
Musawenkosi Saurombe enrolled for her PhD degree at North-West University, South Africa, to study Industrial and Organizational Psychology. At 23 years old, she graduated with her PhD degree and set the record as the youngest PhD holder in Africa.Speaking about her journey, Musawenkosi Saurombe revealed that her father had to sell his car to sponsor her education. “My father had to sell his car, just to get me through my third year of study and also the general social challenges, usually being the youngest in my class,” she narrated to News24 Beautiful.
“What motivates me is my responsibility to be good to others. I am currently working as a post-doctoral researcher and youth activist – ensuring that others can reach their interests and their goals,” she added.
