With a 32-point lead over Lewis Hamilton, Sergio Perez enters the penultimate race weekend of the year with a chance of securing a historic one-two in the Drivers’ Championship for Red Bull.

The Mexican is locked in a battle with Lewis Hamilton, with the pair separated by 32 points with two races to go.
The seven-time World Champion would need to have a margin of at least 25 points to stay within a shot in Abu Dhabi. If Perez can outscore Hamilton by seven points in Las Vegas, it would enable Red Bull to achieve a historic one-two in the championship.
Pressure has mounted on Perez, however Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner has still given his backing to the Mexican regardless of the outcome.
Perez expects it will be a race that will present drivers with a lot of opportunities, but it will be challenging for teams to understand how the temperatures will affect their car on the new track surface.
“Las Vegas is going to be a crazy race! You can already see the whole city has been taken over by F1 and it’s going be very unique racing around the streets of Vegas,” said Perez.
“Vegas will also present some challenges to us, the track will be cold and the car will run a lot differently than usual due to the temperatures.
“It’s something we all need to overcome though and we have been working hard as a Team behind the scenes on the set up and prep required to make this weekend a successful one.
“For me I want to secure second in the Championship – it would be a fun place to do it!
