The two Wonder Woman standalone films were both directed by Patty Jenkins. The two developed Wonder Woman 3 together before Gunn and Safran were appointed as the new heads of DC Studios.
Last December, news broke that Wonder Woman 3 was canceled after Warner Bros. via Patty Jenkins’ treatment for the sequel. Jenkins publicly left the project.
The news comes shortly after Gunn and Safran took the helm of DC Studios and announced they would “overhaul” the DC Universe, leading to speculation that Jenkins had rejected efforts to reshape Wonder Woman 3 to accommodate New DC Universe.
“I never left,” Jenkins shared in a Twitter post. “I’m willing to consider whatever is required. DC is clearly buried in changes, so I understand making these decisions is difficult right now.”
