Director of One Piece Film Makes a Daring Getaway in Thrilling New Trailer

The acclaimed Japanese animation studio Polygon Pictures has unveiled a brand new trailer for an original CG-animated film titled Bloody Escape. Directed by the renowned Goro Taniguchi, known for hit anime series like One Piece Film: Red and Code Geass, this movie boasts an intriguing concept dreamed up by Taniguchi himself, not derived from any pre-existing property.

Centered on the film’s central character, Kisaragi, the latest promotional video highlighted on the official Bloody Escape website displays him engaged in confrontations with vampires and yakuza gang members, suggesting an action-packed narrative.

Additionally, the site discloses a never-before-seen key visual plus supplementary voice cast members and production staff.

Slated to launch in Japanese cinemas on January 5, 2024, this wholly original anime production by the talented Taniguchi, along with Polygon Pictures, promises to deliver thrills with its vampire-yakuza premise when Bloody Escape arrives in theaters early next year.

The original sci-fi anime film Bloody Escape unfolds in near-future Tokyo, following a man named Kisaragi whose body has been augmented with deadly weaponry through genetic manipulation procedures.

While on the run from unknown pursuers, Kisaragi ends up slaying a high-ranking leader of the formidable Japanese mafia outfit known as the Yakuza. This act catalyzes the entire vengeful yakuza syndicate to make neutralizing Kisaragi a top priority mission.

However, unbeknownst to the criminal organization, a vampire clan dubbed the Immortal Knights has orchestrated an elaborate plan to seize control of Tokyo from the mob empire.

So, with both blood-thirsty vampires and enraged yakuza operatives on his tail, Kisaragi must fight to survive while caught in the middle of an impending violent power struggle enveloping the streets of Tokyo.

Bloody Escape Cast

Bloody Escape has assembled an impressive creative team featuring several big industry names. Co-writing the script along with director Taniguchi is Shingo Nagai, known for co-penning the fantasy comedy hit anime BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, So I’ll Max Out My Defense.

Character designs are handled by Shimadoriru, author of the Danganronpa Togami light novels, and Yusuke Kozaki, known for Pokemon Journeys: The Series.

Leading the computer graphics behind this CG film is Satoshi Oyamada, who worked on the acclaimed anime Ajin.

Providing the musical score is composer Kotaro Nakagawa, who created the soundtracks for Taniguchi’s Code Geass series.

Lastly, voicing lead character Kisaragi is seasoned voice actor Yuki Ono, recognized for roles in shows like The Devil Is a Part-Timer and Food Wars! With all this creative firepower involved, Bloody Escape aims high to deliver a one-of-a-kind anime spectacle.

The announcement of Goro Taniguchi’s original anime film Bloody Escape first came this past March, arriving just two months after his record-shattering One Piece Film: Red finished its extended theatrical run in Japan.

That movie followed a standalone adventure centered on Luffy’s childhood friend Uta, who aimed to reform the world with her musical gifts.

Becoming an unprecedented success for the studio Toei, Film: Red accrued over $246.5 million at the worldwide box office, even supplanting the revered Studio Ghibli classic Princess Mononoke as Japan’s 7th highest-grossing film ever.

On top of its historic box office dominance, Film: Red received a special Blu-ray release this year containing an additional three episodes focused on Uta and her infamous pirate father, Red-Haired Shanks.

With Taniguchi riding high off Film: Red’s accomplishments, his next original animated tale, Bloody Escape, will premiere in Japanese cinemas on January 5th, 2024.

However, the 3D animation studio Polygon Pictures has yet to specify an international release timeline for the vampire-yakuza action film.
