The friendship between Kim Kardashian and Lauren Sanchez, Jeff Bezos’s fiancée, is strong enough to survive a lot — even a bidding war over new Balenciaga pieces.
During this year’s New York Fashion Week, the women realized they were both bidding on the same Balenciaga dress at the Kering Foundation’s Caring for Women dinner, per People.
Instead of turning to cutthroat tactics, Kardashian and Sanchez decided to share the designer piece.
“We’ll share it!” Kardashian called across the dining room, per Vogue, thinking each woman would wear the dress once.
Instead, Kering, a large corporation that owns multiple luxury goods brands, including Balenciaga, offered to make both a dress, according to Vogue. Each paid $200,000 and will fly to France together to get the gowns custom fitted.
Though their bidding war was probably their most high-profile interaction, Kardashian said they often speak on social media.
“Lauren and I are always sending DMs building each other up,” Kardashian told Vogue. “Every time there’s a look that we like, she’ll say, ‘WOW,’ or, ‘OMG you look amazing.'”
Kardashian also told Vogue Sanchez is “such a girl’s girl” and described her as supportive.
In October, Sanchez attended Kardashian’s 43rd birthday alongside Ivanka Trump and Lydia Kives, per People.
In a post wishing her happy birthday, Sanchez said she had a “blast” celebrating Kardashian.
“Your kind heart shines equally as bright as your beauty, and it’s a constant reminder of the incredible person you are, both inside and out,” her caption read. “Wishing you endless happiness in the year ahead!”
Kardashian’s family were also in attendance at Sanchez’s first and second engagement parties, according to previous Business Insider reporting.
Kardashian, Kering, and Sanchez did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider, sent outside regular working hours.
