One of the most popular games from the 2010s helped break the ice between Anne Hathaway and her co-stars.
While Anne Hathaway was already proven to be a proficient name in showbiz prior to landing the gig of Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises, she was nervous about teaming up with the industry greats. Similar to the previous two acclaimed releases in the trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises doesn’t fail to deliver an impeccable antagonist, with veteran Star Tom Hardy playing Bane.
Reflecting on her experience with Hardy and Christian Bale, the Oscar winner recalled being skittish about kickstarting a conversation with the two, as she wasn’t sure what topic to converse about. In the end, Angry Birds helped her to break the tension.

Angry Birds Helped Break the Ice Between Them
Back in the 2010s, the Angry Birds game took the entire gaming space by storm, and it appears two of the biggest stars on the planet were familiar with the fun game, released in 2009. While Anne Hathaway was figuring out what topic to tackle with Christian Bale and Tom Hardy, whom she deemed a talent sandwich, they ended up conversing about Angry Birds. She told Digital Spy:
“I was sitting in between Christian [Bale] and Tom [Hardy], and I was like, ‘gosh, this is like a talent sandwich right here’,” Hathaway explained. “I thought, ‘what are we going to talk about? Are we going to talk about politics or world events?’ We talked about Angry Birds.”
While Hathaway wasn’t familiar with the game at the time that Bale and Hardy seemed to love, this ended up breaking the ice between them on set.

Anne Hathaway Dressed Up as Harley Quinn for Catwoman Audition
Although Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman isn’t as flamboyant as Michelle Pfeiffer’s iconic character portrayal, she makes the most out of the material she is given. Interestingly, Hathaway initially thought she was auditioning for Harley Quinn, resulting in her entering the audition in some colorful clothing, only to be told later that the role was Catwoman. The Devil Wears Prada Star recalled the funny string of events, stating (via CinemaBlend),
“I came in and I had this lovely Vivian Westwood kind of beautiful but mad tailoring top with stripes going everywhere, and I wore these flat kind of Jokery looking shoes. And I was just trying to give Chris these crazy little smiles… And then about an hour into it, he goes, ‘I’m sure that I don’t have to tell you this, but it’s Catwoman.’ I was like, ‘Shifting into a different gear right now.’”

Thankfully, her colorful dress-up didn’t end up ruining her chance to star in one of the best CBM trilogy, and a few years later, Anne Hathaway would once again team up with Nolan for Interstellar.
The Dark Knight Rises is available to stream on Max.
