Chelsea returned to winning ways yesterday in the Premier League in a frantic style that has become the norm under Mauricio Pochettino.

A 3-2 win over Brighton had everything a neutral could want, however Chelsea fans will perhaps not be over the moon with how dramatic the game got.

2-0 up and cruising in the first half, the Blues let their opponents back into the game by reducing themselves to 10 men for the second week in a row.

Conor Gallagher’s red card did not eventually cost them though, and a number of players stepped up with big performances.

Enzo Fernandez scored his first and then second goals for the club, while Thiago Silva put in an imperious display.

Instead, it was Robert Sanchez who was given that honour, in his first game against his former club in the Premier League.

He played his part in what turned out to be the winning goal, launching a counter attack which saw Mykhailo Mudryk win a penalty.

The 26-year-old also had more than his fair share of abuse from the travelling supporters who are certainly not his biggest fans now.

It was the Spaniard who had the last laugh though, making sure he waved goodbye to the Seagulls at Stamford Bridge.

He can expect to start again for the Blues on Wednesday when they are swiftly back in Premier League action on Wednesday against Manchester United.

Their opponents will bring with them Andre Onana, who was also strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge over the summer.
