Singapore sponsors Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour

Singapore has awarded singer Taylor Swift a sponsorship for the singer to perform in this island nation next March, according to Reuters. It is expected that Taylor Swift will perform 6 shows in Singapore from March 2 – 9. More than 300,000 tickets were sold to fans.The Singapore Tourism Board and Ministry of Culture did not disclose the sponsorship amount, but said the Ministry of Culture worked with concert organizer AEG Presents to have Taylor Swift perform in Singapore.

A representative of Singapore’s Ministry of Culture said: “The tour has the potential to create significant benefits for the Singapore economy, especially the hospitality, retail, tourism and dining sectors, as seen in other cities. Another street where Taylor Swift performed”.

Singapore has seen a boom in concerts since the Covid-19 lockdown ended. Big names like Blackpink, Coldplay and Ed Sheeran have performed here with sold-out shows.

Last week, when speaking at a business forum, Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin said Singapore paid Taylor Swift about 2.77 million USD for each performance, with the condition that Singapore would be the only performance location. of famous female singers in Southeast Asia.

The Singapore government did not comment on the above information, although AEG Presents confirmed that Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour in Southeast Asia only stopped in this island nation, with VIP tickets costing up to 913.55 USD/ticket.

In Asia, Taylor Swift performed in Tokyo (Japan) in early February 2024.​
