French media revealed shocking information about Neymar before he moved to PSG for a world record price in 2017.
Neymar signed with PSG from Barcelona 6 years ago for a record fee of 222 million Euros (193 million pounds/ 242 million USD) – a number that no other star has surpassed to date.
Despite his top performance at Barca, most of his time in Paris, Neymar did not leave much of an impression, especially because he did not bring the club its first Champions League championship in history. In addition, much of the disappointment comes from the striker’s constant injuries, starting right from the moment he arrived in Paris.
Shocking new information from L’Equipe said that the Brazilian international arrived at Parc des Princes with a fracture in his ankle, specifically in the fifth metatarsal of his right foot. Neymar then continued to suffer similar fractures twice while playing for PSG – in February 2018 and January 2019 – before having to have ankle surgery in March 2022 after an injury at the 2022 World Cup.
That means PSG knew about this in advance but still accepted to spend tons of money to buy the Brazilian star. In 6 seasons with PSG, Neymar played 173 matches, scored 118 goals and 77 assists in all competitions. He also had to sit out more than 100 matches due to injury and did not have a good relationship with fans until his last days in the French capital.
The Brazilian player continues to be sidelined after suffering another injury. Only having time to play 5 matches after signing with Saudi Arabian team Al-Hilal in the summer, Neymar tore his ligament while playing for Brazil. Since then, he has had surgery and is not expected to return until next spring.
